Attract Traffic to your Website

Apr 1, 2013

Attract Web TrafficAs a website owner, of course you want your website to attract traffic. If you look at your website statistics, you’ll see that a lot of people arrive at your site and leave within a few minutes.

Here are some tips to help you make your website a place people want to visit – and spend time reading:

Is your website attractive?

Take a good look and be honest. If you stumbled upon your site, would you want to stay and read through it? Or click away quickly?

The better your site looks, the longer people will want to stay. Keep your site clean and professional looking. Having a few ads and graphics on the sidebars is okay, but if your site looks cluttered, it will distract your readers’ attention.

Make sure your colors and fonts are appealing and do not clash or give your readers a headache!

You also need good navigation. If people can’t find information on your site, they won’t be staying for long.

Do you provide good content on a regular basis?

People need a reason to come back to your website. Give them that reason by providing quality content. Some people suggest publishing new content at least 3 times per week.

You do not have to write content every single day. You can write several pieces and schedule them to publish later.

If you are too busy to write the posts yourself, consider hiring a ghostwriter or buying some pre-written PLR (private label rights) articles to use.

Do you have a newsletter sign up box?

Did you notice the free report offered here on my website? If you don’t have a newsletter sign up box on your website, you may want to consider adding one. Having one will allow you to collect the name and addresses of your visitors. This will allow you to stay in touch with them and to continue marketing to them. Entice your visitors to sign up by offering a freebie report.

Are you practicing any SEO strategies?

Believe it or not, good Search Engine Optimization can actually make your site easier to read. Meaningful page/post titles, the use of header tags and images with alt tags, etc. all make your website more search friendly but some of those SEO techniques also make your site friendlier to your visitors. Another example is a sitemap. Can you visitors find what else they want to read once they are there? A sitemap can help!

By giving your website a few tweaks here and there, you really can create an online destination that attracts traffic – and they’ll want to keep reading once they get there!
