Filter annoying spam!
SPAM ASSASSIN
If you are hosted by PWDH, you have a tool at your disposal that works
really well. Many other hosts use it as well so check with your web host
if you do not have your site hosted here with us. (Why is that by the
way? *hahaha*)
In your control
panel, there is a spam filter called Spam Assassin. Look for the graphic
that says spam and has a big red circle with a line through the word spam.
Click the button to "Enable SpamAssassin" then go back and click
the button to configure it. We recommend a setting of about 10 rather
than the default of 5 to ensure "good" mail doesn't get caught
in the filter.
Once SA is enabled, mail that is considered spam based on its score will
go into a special folder called "Spam". You can periodically
check this mail to ensure it's all spam by logging into Webmail and clicking
on the Horde option then going to the Spam folder OR you can enable SpamBox
(also in the control panel).
To download the messages to your email program such as Outlook, add another
account in your email program's setup and add /spam to the end of the
username. Remember that your username is the full email address for all
accounts other than your default email account so this "username"
may look a bit odd as it will be the full email address followed by /spam
to ensure you download the spam folder.
If you need help, add a support ticket and we'll assist you with setting
this up.
NOTE: We recommend using Spamcop.net to report spam but have not found
a simple way to do it when using SpamAssassin. If you have the time to
report it and you have signed up for a submission address with Spamcop
try Option #2 as it's best
to report the mail whenever possible.
